Coffee at Home

Small steps to make coffee taste better at home.

Good coffee starts with the bean – and ends with the preparation. With a few simple steps, you can get more out of your coffee at home.

Storage

Coffee likes it dry, dark, and airtight. Store the beans in a sealable container, not in the refrigerator, and preferably buy smaller quantities that you will consume quickly.

Grinding

Freshly ground coffee tastes best. Therefore, grind as shortly before preparation as possible and adjust the grind to your method: fine for espresso, coarser for filter coffee and French press.

Water and Ratio

The water should be hot, but not boiling – letting it cool down briefly is sufficient. A good starting point for taste is about one gram of coffee to fifteen grams of water; after that, you can fine-tune to your liking.
